Andrew Kent is in his second year as goalie coach for the men’s hockey team at the University of Minnesota after joining the Gophers in 2017.
A native of Lakeville, Minn., Kent was a four-year letter winner at Augsburg, playing from 2005-09. He also was an MIAC All-Conference award winner in 2007 and earned M.I.A.C All-Conference Honorable Mention in 2009. As a senior, Kent was an assistant captain for the Auggies in 2008-09 and graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a minor in management information systems.
Along with his playing experience Kent brings a wealth of coaching knowledge and expertise to the Gopher coaching staff.
Kent was the goalie coach for the Gophers women’s hockey team for seven seasons (2012-2018) as well as the Augsburg men’s program for four seasons (2013-2017). Along with coaching at the collegiate level, Kent coached in the 2014 Sochi Olympics for Finland’s women’s hockey team as well as the boys’ goalie coach at Roseville High School from 2011-2013.
Under his watch with the Gopher women’s program, his goalies broke numerous records and received many awards. After his start with the Gopher Women in 2012, the team went on to win four NCAA national championships (2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016). While coaching at Augsburg, his goalies received numerous All-America and All-Conference awards. The team also won back-to-back MIAC league championships 2016 and 2017.
Kent began coaching with MEGA Goaltending in 2010 where he currently serves as the Director of Goalie Development.
