Minnesota Women’s Soccer alumna Sara Johnson joins the Gophers’ staff after serving as the Graduate Assistant Director of Operations for the Indiana University’s women’s soccer program the past two seasons. Johnson was a three-time letter winner at Minnesota from 2004-07. She was given the team’s Spark Award in 2004 and 2006, as well as the Rose Grim Heart and Soul Award in 2007.
At Indiana, Johnson assisted with team travel, practice set-up, social media and day-to-day operations. In addition, she worked closely with the alumni base, coordinating Alumni Weekends and the team banquet.
Johnson has more than 13 years of coaching experience at a variety of levels in Minnesota and has been very involved with youth soccer. She currently serves as a coach at Rev Soccer Club where she works with the '01's. Prior to Rev Soccer club she she worked with the U13 and U18 teams at North Oaks. She has also spend time with North Suburban Soccer Association where she helped lead the U17 Premier Girls team to a State Cup championship and MYSA Premier League title. She has stints at Woodbury Soccer Club, Cottage Grove Soccer Association, North High School and Edina High School.
Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and Marketing Education from Minnesota in 2008 and a Master’s Degree at Indiana in Athletic Administration and Sport Management in 2017.
