A six-time Big Ten Conference champion finalist in the 200, 500 and 1650-freestyle, Hicken-Franklin was also a two-time NCAA Academic All-American honorable mention her junior and senior year.
Hicken was a finalist at the Canadian Olympic Trials in 1992 and was a Canadian National Finalist multiple times in the freestyle events.
