Zhou joined the Minnesota Swimming & Diving coaching staff in August 2021, and worked as a graduate assistant for two seasons before being promoted to Assistant Diving Coach and Director of Operations in July of 2023.
In her first season as Assistant Diving Coach, Zhou helped Vivi Del Angel become the first women's National Champion on the platform in Minnesota history. Del Angel was also named Big Ten Diver of the year and Second Team All-Big Ten in 2024. Under Zhou's guidance, five Gophers punched their ticket to the NCAA Championships in 2024 and three were named All-Americans. Zhou also helped coach freshman YuTong Wang to the first Big Ten Championship title on the 1-meter for the men's diving team since 2016.
Zhou dove for the Gophers from 2015-17, and is widely regarded as one of the best divers in Minnesota program history. In her three seasons with Minnesota, Zhou secured two NCAA titles on the three-meter springboard in 2015 and 2017, and seven All-American honors while only finishing below fifth in any event at the NCAA Championships once in her career. She also secured a bronze medal on the one-meter board her sophomore season and a silver on the platform in 2016, giving her four career NCAA medals. She was named the NCAA Women's Division I Diver of the Year in 2015.
At the conference level, Zhou claimed a remarkable seven individual Big Ten Conference titles, sweeping both springboard events over all three seasons in which she competed. She also took home a silver and bronze medal over the three year span to never finish below third in any Big Ten Championship event in which she ever competed. She was rightfully named the Big Ten Diver of the Year and Big Ten Diver of the Championships in all three seasons as well.
Zhou graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2017 with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications Studies, and is now back to pursue her Masters of Education in Sports Management. During her undergrad, she earned CSCAA Scholar All-American and Academic All-Big Ten honors in both her junior and senior seasons.
