    Volunteer Assistant Coach
Joy Tietz is in her second season as a Gopher Volleyball volunteer assistant. Tietz is a 2005 graduate from Concordia University (St. Paul, Minn.). She graduated with honors and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and Parent Education. 

During her volleyball career at Concordia University, Tietz was a three-year captain, a two-time All-American and the 2004 NSIC Player of the Year. Since 2006 she has had a passion for teaching in the classroom and coaching volleyball in many capacities, including 10 years as an assistant at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. At St. Thomas, Tietz contributed to the success of the program in all capacities. UST had great success in her time there, including seven MIAC conference championships, three consecutive trips to the Elite Eight and one NCAA Division III National Championship in 2012. 

Tietz was hired by MN Select Volleyball in September of 2015 as its Associate Director. Her responsibilities include coaching club teams, event schedule creation, assuring all travel logistics, coach support, and directing and coordinating all positional and camp training sessions. 

She and her husband, Reed, live in Eden Prairie.
