Went 16-7 at 141 in his first campaign, competing solely in open meets • Won two matched by fall, six by major decision and two by tech fall • Went 0-1 against ranked opponents • First win in the maroon and gold came in his first match, a 9-4 decision over Justin Reinsma of Southwest Minnesota at the Bison Open • Placed sixth at the North Country Open, going 2-3 • Finished as runner-up at the Worthington Open, winning two matches by tech fall and one by decision before falling 1-3 in overtime to Jason Jeremiason of Augustana on the championship match • Placed third at the Dragon Open, going 4-1 with a 5-2 win over Cody Hansen of Augsburg in the third place match • Finished as runner-up at the Kaufman-Brand Amateur, going 4-1, falling to Dustin Walraven of South Dakota 2-3 in the championship match • Went 3-1 at the Bison Open to place second, losing only to teammate No. 9 Mike Thorn in the Championship match by a 5-20 final. •

2009 graduate of Don Bosco High School • Coached by Tom Kettman • Four-time state wrestling champion and earned all-state honors all four years • Led his team to four state titles • National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) Junior National All-American • Owned a 162-2 prep record and was ranked as the No. 10 recruit in his weight class and No. 80 prospect overall by InterMat • Also a letter winner on the baseball diamond • Honor Roll student. •
