Alexandra Fruetel joined the Health & Performance staff at the University of Minnesota in August 2022 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer working with Track & Field and Cross-Country.
 
Originally hailing from South St. Paul, MN, Alex attended Iowa State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training in 2015.  While in Ames, she worked as a student intern for two summers with Football.  She then attended graduate school at Tulane University while working as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer with Indoor & Beach Volleyball, graduating with a Master of Liberal Arts degree in 2017.  From there, Alex transitioned into a full-time Athletic Trainer at Tulane working with Volleyball, Bowling, Women’s Golf, and Track & Field/Cross-Country until 2022, along with supervising Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainers.  Additionally, Alex administered summer camp medical coverage, Student-Athlete Pre-Participation Exams, and inventory management.  
 
Fruetel is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and a Minnesota State Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT).  She holds certifications in Integrative Dry Needling Level 1 and phlebotomy/IV access.
 
Alex currently resides in West St. Paul with her significant other, Darius, and children Averi & Elijah.
