  • Email:

Connor Gandossy joined the Gopher baseball staff as an assistant coach in June 2024, overseeing the program’s hitters and catchers. Prior to Minnesota, Gandossy spent seven seasons at Creighton as the program’s hitting coach and recruiting coordinator, while also working closely with the Bluejay catchers. A former collegiate catcher at Saint Louis University, Gandossy has built a reputation as one of the nation’s top offensive developers and recruiters.

In his first season with the Gophers in 2025, Minnesota posted a .263 team batting average and ranked among the Big Ten’s top ten in home runs with 73. Under his guidance, catcher Weber Neels earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors as the Gophers posted a 24-28 record.

In his second season with the program in 2026, Gandossy guided Gopher hitters to 78 home runs, their most in a single season since 1998. Minnesota posted a .280 team batting average while collecting their highest team OBP since 2002, highest team SLG% since 1999, and most total runs since 2009 on their way to a 30-23 record. Under his guidance, senior backstop Weber Neels earned All-Big Ten First Team honors.

Before arriving at Minnesota, Gandossy helped lead Creighton to a 195-113 record across seven seasons, during which the Bluejays consistently ranked among the BIG EAST’s top offensive clubs. Creighton hit over .270 during his tenure, totaling 622 doubles, 263 home runs, and averaging 6.5 runs per game.

Gandossy played a key role in Creighton’s 2019 NCAA Regional Finals run, as the Bluejays captured both BIG EAST regular season and tournament championships while finishing nationally ranked in the Top 25. Under his leadership, Creighton’s offense made immediate strides, improving its batting average, slugging percentage, and run production in his first season as hitting coach in 2018. By 2019, the Bluejays led the BIG EAST with a .290 team batting average, a .387 on-base percentage, 67 home runs, and more than seven runs per game.

Widely respected for his player development, Gandossy helped develop Alan Roden from walk-on to the 98th overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays and the 2022 BIG EAST Player of the Year. He also coached 2019 BIG EAST Player of the Year and All-American Jake Holton, along with several additional MLB Draft selections. Across his coaching career, Gandossy has coached 28 MLB Draft picks, including four catchers selected professionally.

Gandossy has also made a major impact on the recruiting trail, helping assemble multiple nationally ranked recruiting classes at both Creighton and Saint Louis University. Before Creighton, he spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Saint Louis and previously coached at Jefferson College.

As a player at Saint Louis from 2009-12, Gandossy appeared in 157 games behind the plate and helped lead the Billikens to three Atlantic 10 championships, an NCAA Tournament appearance, and a school-record 41-win season in 2012. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Saint Louis University in 2012 and later completed a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Creighton in 2021. Connor and his wife, Rachael, were married in 2019 and welcomed their son, Marcus, in 2022.
