Mike Wierzbicki joined the University of Minnesota athletic department in July 2016 and was promoted to his current position as Deputy Athletics Director, External Affairs in May 2025.
Wierzbicki is responsible for the day-to-day external operations of the department with oversight of athletic communications & social media, creative services, digital productions, licensing, and marketing as well as serving as the sport administrator for the Menās Basketball program. He is the primary contact for the Big Ten and Big Ten Network on television and broadcast rights and isĀ also a liaison to Gopher Sports Properties, Minnesotaās multi-media rights partner, in addition to numerous campus units responsible for University-wide collaboration and engagement efforts.
Prior to coming to Minnesota, Wierzbicki held positions in athletics at Penn State University, St. Cloud State University, and various minor league sports organizations. He earned his bachelorās degree in business administration from Creighton University in 2008 and his masterās degree in business administration from the University of Minnesotaās Carlson School of Management in 2022.
Wierzbicki is a native of Sartell, Minn. He and his wife, Amy, live in Lakeville, Minn., and have four children ā Ella, Caleb, Ben, and Andrew.
