All Beard

After a long, tedious and careful process, Gopher Football is proud to present the 2019 All-Headshot Teams.

Every player enters headshot day with their eyes on one of the teams. This coveted honor fuels locker room chatter all season long providing players with the ultimate bragging rights. This year's squads are the All-Hair, All-Beard, All-Smile and for the first time ever the All-Smooth Teams.

Today's announcement is the most anticipated year in and year out. Before we introduce the team we do have to apologize to Mohamed Ibrahim. His beard was strong but we left him off the final eight in an absolute battle for facial hair royalty. Anders Gelecinskyj had a creative handlebar but the committee decided this honor goes to best beards, not best mustache.

Winston DeLattiboudere might not have the most well kept beard on the team but his overpowering beard mass made it impossible to keep him off the All-Beard First Team. DeLattiboudere has brought home All-Beard honors in four straight seasons.

"Fourth straight year on the All-Beard Team?" DeLattiboudere asked losing track of his success. "I guess I go down in history with the greats. We are talking Happy Gilmore, Jackie Moon, Bobby Boucher, G Baby, The Might Ducks and even the Little Giants. It's a true honor."

Connor Novak-Goar is an All-Beard veteran and has often voiced his complaints about not receiving enough credit for having the cleanest beard on the team. This is his third straight All-Beard honoree but his first time landing on the First Team with the committee agreeing his beard is well kept. Jason Dickson added a second All-Beard accolade to his collection with First Team honors as well.

"They say I look like I have three kids without my beard," Dickson said. "With it they said I'm retired with a 401K plan sitting on a beach somewhere. It's good to be back on the All-Beard Team."

Bryce Witham is proof of what dedication to the beard craft can do. The redshirt junior went into 2019 without a single All-Headshot honor in his career, but finds himself on the All-Beard First Team this season.

"It's been a long road but I'm glad I could finally make the list," Witham said in hopes of inspiring every child out there that dreams of making the All-Beard team someday.

Another veteran earning All-Beard honors for the first time is senior Carter Coughlin with a spot on the Second Team, but he isn't sure if he should be proud or not.

"All I have to say is don't tell my mom or grandma," Coughlin explained. "They will tell me to shave ASAP."

Jamaal Teague on the other hand said he was going to call his mother as soon as he found out the news.

"Momma, we made it!" Teague said excitedly.

Tai'yon Devers and Jack Kern round out the list. Kern is proof of the sacrifice it can take to make the All-Beard squad.

"I had to leave a lot of clean shaven friends behind to get here," Kern said holding back tears. "Making the All-Beard Team was worth it in the end."
