Antoine Winfield and Coney Durr continue All-Smile Team dominance

After a long, tedious and careful process, Gopher Football is proud to present the 2019 All-Headshot Teams.

Every player enters headshot day with their eyes on one of the teams. This coveted honor fuels locker room chatter all season long providing players with the ultimate bragging rights. This year's squads are the All-Hair, All-Beard, All-Smile and for the first time ever the All-Smooth Teams. We move along with the announcement of our All-Smile team.

While the All-Hair Team was dominated by returnees, the All-Smile Team saw a plethora of new faces.

The recently graduated Huff brothers of Jacob and Julian left a big void but Antoine Winfield Jr. and freshman brother Austin Winfield keep the brotherly tradition going with two of the eight spots. Older brother Antoine took home First Team honors while Austin brought home Second Team hardware.

When asked for a quote Antoine couldn't come up with one as magical as the one he had for last year's All-Smile release. Hard to blame him when it was nearly as perfect as his 76-yard punt return in last year's season opener.

"It means a lot for me making the All-Smile Team because my parents spent a lot of money on these pearls," Winfield told GopherSports.com last year. "Money can't buy you happiness but it can buy you a great smile."

Antoine has earned a spot on the All-Smile team all four years on campus and is joined by three-time honoree Coney Durr

"You have to smile! It increases your face value," Durr said. "I'm truly honored."

Part of rocking a great smile is having the confidence to do so. That swagger was evident when Durr was asked if there is already pressure to make it a four-peat next season.

"It should be a breeze," Durr said. "No pressure at all."

After failing to make an All-Headshot team before season, Zack Annexstad and Esezi Otomewo each changed their best and earned First Team honors behind clutch grins.

"Why so serious?" Annexstad said using his best Heath Ledger impression when asked what the honor meant to him.

Along with Austin Winfield, the Second Team saw three new All-Smile winners. Tyler Johnson has been smashing records on the field but this is his first ever All-Headshot honor. He is joined by redshirt freshman Ty Barron and true freshman D'Vion Harris

"I worked all year for this," Barron said. "All those hours practicing my smile in the mirror paid off."
