Garrett Raboin enters fourth season as an assistant coach on Bob Motzko's staff at the University of Minnesota in 2021-22 after spending six seasons with Motzko at St. Cloud State.Â
The 2020-21 season saw Raboin help the Gophers capture the Big Ten tournament title and return to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2017 while the program won its first NCAA game since 2014 to earn an appearance in the NCAA West Regional Final.Â
In his six years with the Huskies, Raboin helped St. Cloud State to five NCAA tournament berths including a Frozen Four appearance in 2013. The program also claimed three regular-season conference championships along with the 2016 NCHC playoff title. Raboin has coached seven All-Americans – all First Team selections -- in his coaching career including 2013 Hobey Baker Award winner Drew LeBlanc. In addition to his duties at SCSU, Raboin has also served on coaching USA Hockey coaching staffs for a number of development camps.Â
As a player, Raboin was a three-year captain for St. Cloud State and led the team to three NCAA tournament appearances. A two-time All-WCHA selection, he ranks fourth all-time at SCSU in defensive scoring with 83 points (21 goals, 62 assists). Raboin earned a bachelor’s degree in special education from SCSU in 2010 while adding three WCHA All-Academic Team accolades. He capped his college career as a Lowes Senior Class All-American in 2010 before playing professionally in Europe for two seasons.Â
A native of Detroit Lakes, Minn., Raboin played high school hockey at Detroit Lakes High School before skating in the USHL with the Lincoln Stars.Â
