Sonja Robinson was Minnesota's lone scorer in double figures, scoring 10 points. Kim Bell scored six points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked five shots, all three marks being career highs. Larecha Jones scored 15 points off the Ohio State bench to lead the Buckeyes, while Jamie Lewis added 12 points.
Minnesota's lone lead of the first half came when Swantreca Taylor's basket gave the Gophers a 2-1 lead two minutes into the contest. Ohio State scored 11 of the next 14 points to take a 12-5 lead with 13:33 remaining in the first half. Minnesota moved to within one point at 14-13 with 9:56 remaining in the period, but could get no closer in the period. Ohio State finished the half on a 10-2 run in the final four minutes to take a 32-21 halftime lead.
The Gophers held Ohio State scoreless for the first five minutes of the second half and cut the Ohio State lead to 32-26. The Buckeyes followed with a 19-5 run to extend their lead to 51-31 with 8:09 to play.
Minnesota will play its next game Friday at 7 p.m. against Illinois at the Sports Pavilion. The Gophers will play five of its last seven regular season games at home.
