MINNESOTA SWIMMERS AND DIVERS HOST ANNUAL ALUMNI MEET

EVENT SCHEDULE - The meet features 15 events. The 1000 freestyle will not be contested. 1-meter and 3-meter diving will also take place.
COTTRILL, DEPPE, SMEDSTAD SHINE IN PULLMAN - Minnesota's swimmers were solid in the two victories over Florida State and Washington State. Senior freestyler Amy Cottrill (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and junior backstroker Emily Deppe (Green Valley, Calif./The Peddie School) were named the swimmers of the meet against Washington State by the Gopher coaching staff. Cottrill defeated the Cougars in the 50 free (24.34) and the 100 free (52.01), while Deppe was victorious against Washington State in the 200 IM (2:07.89) and the 200 backstroke (2:06.26). Sophomore Jinny Smedstad (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/John F. Kennedy) was named the swimmer of the meet against Florida State for her victories in the 1000 free (10:23.09) and the 500 free (5:04.83).

No. 16 Minnesota will host No. 7 Michigan, No. 12 Nebraska and No. 18 North Carolina in a two-day meet. The sessions will begin Fri., Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. and Sat., Nov. 6 at noon.
