CARTER EARNS BIG TEN DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR

GUniversity of Minnesota senior strong safety Tyrone Carter earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors for his outstanding performance in the Golden Gophers' 25-21 win over Iowa at Iowa City Saturday.

Carter recorded a season-high 16 tackles in the game, 14 of which were solo. He finishes the regular season with 127 total tackles, 99 of which were unassisted. His career total, a Minnesota school record and the NCAA Division I-A defensive back tackle record, now stands at 511 total. Carter also has 397 career solo tackles, which ranks second all-time in Division I-A history.

He has also been named one of five finalists for the Mike Fox/ Bronko Nagurski Trophy to be presented December 6.
