ERIN OLSON NAMED BIG TEN PLAYER OF THE WEEK

weErin Olson was named the Big Ten Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, today, for her performances in Minnesota's three victories last week. Olson, a senior guard, is the first Golden Gopher to win the award since Cara Pearson shared the honor the week of Jan. 9, 1995.
Olson averaged 13.0 points per game in Gopher victories over Ohio, South Alabama and Troy State. She also averaged 7.3 assists, 6.3 rebounds and 38.7 minutes per contest. Against Troy State, Olson tallied a double- double with 19 points and 11 assists, marking the first time since Nikki Coates' 14 assists versus Northwestern in February of 1994 that a Minnesota played dished out over 10 assists in a game. She finished the three-game span with an impressive 2-to-1 assist to turnover ratio with 22 assists and 11 turnovers.
