GOLDEN GOPHERS FAIL TO QUALIFY AT THE CYCLONE NATIONAL QUALIFIER

womenUniversity of Minnesota men's track athletes, Jon Anderson, Jeff Marsh and Adam Reed, as well as women's track team members Minna Haronoja and Corinne Nimtz competed at the 1999 Cyclone National Qualifier in Ames, Iowa on Friday afternoon. They did not qualify. This meet was the last opportunity for athletes to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships held in Indianapolis, Ind.
Anderson competed in the pole vault and finished in fourth place with a vault of 16-10 3/4 (5.15m). The vault was a season best for Anderson.
Marsh and Reed both competed in the shot put where Marsh finished in sixth place with a throw of 51-11 (15.82m) and Reed finished in eighth place with a throw of 51-0 1/4 (15.55m).
Haronoja ran a time of 9:59.02 in the 3,000m run to take a third-place finish, while Nimtz took a fourth- place finish in the 5,000m run with a personal-best time of 17:04.28.
