LINDQVIST EARNS ALL-AMERICAN HONORS AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

LiMinnesota frosh Linda Lindqvist earned All-American honors in her first NCAA competition at Boise State.

With a throw of 172 feet, seven inches, Lindqvist placed third in the event after being ranked seventh entering the competition. She is the fourth Gopher All-American in the event during the 1990s. Junior Nicole Chimko, ranked fourth, finished 14th with a throw of 155 feet, seven inches.

In the triple jump, 20th-ranked junior Christine Gulbrandsen went 42-9 3/4 to duplicate her 12th-place finish at this year's NCAA Indoor Championships.
