Thomas Hamner tied his career high with 33 carries and set a career high with 174 yards. Hamner also rushed for career-high three touchdowns.

On the other side of the ball, Minnesota's defense racked up seven sacks. Junior Karon Riley recorded three sacks for a loss of 16 yards, which ties a school record. Junior linebacker Ben Mezera and senior John Schlecht both collected two sacks each.

Sophomore Willie Middlebrooks also got in the scoring books with a 26-yard interception return for a touchdown. Freshman Tellis Redmon also scored a touchdown after junior Trevis Graham blocked John White's punt in the second quarter. Redmon scooped up the ball and returned it 15 yards for the score.

Senior strong safety Tyrone Carter returned seven punts for 110 yards. Its stands as the single-game school record for punt return yards.

Minnesota will host Illinois State, Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Metrodome at 1:30 p.m.
