Minnesota (3-3) drove full court as time elapsed with a Tanisha Gilbert jumper from the free throw line bouncing off the rim as the buzzer sounded. The Gophers, who were held scoreless in the final two minutes of the game, also dropped a 64-62 decision on Friday to St. Joseoph's on a last-second shot at the horn.
The Gophers started slowly, hitting just 2-of-9 shots and committing six turnovers in the first seven minutes of the game. The Panthers took advantage by racing out to an 18-5 lead. Minnesota came back to within five points, 40-35, at halftime by making 12 of 17 field goal attempts in the remainder of the first half.

Panther center Pam O'Connor, who led all scorers with 22 points, made 4-of-4 free throws down the stretch to set up Dailey's winning shot. As a team, Eastern Illinois (3-3) shot an impressive 92 percent for the line, making 24 of 26 chances.
