HANNAHAN, WERNER EARN PLAYER AND PITCHER OF THE WEEK HONORS

Hannahan, a native of St. Paul, batted .625 in five games last week for the Golden Gophers. He was 10-17 from the plate with seven RBIs and five runs scored, including two doubles and a home run. In Sunday's 13-5 win over Ohio State, Hannahan was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, two runs scored and a home run. In the second game, a 7-1 Minnesota win, Hannahan was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Werner, a native of Eau Claire, Wis., has been outstanding on the hill for the Golden Gophers in his last three starts. In those starts he is 3-0, has not allowed an earned run in his last 26 innings of work while opponents are batting just .147 (11-75) against him. In Sunday's 7-1 victory over Ohio State, Werner earned his second complete-game win of the year, going seven innings scattering four hits and striking out four. Ohio State's only run of the game was an unearned run, breaking a string of 24 straight scoreless innings. He currently has a record of 4-3 with an ERA of 3.42.
Minnesota (19-13, 6-2) travels to Ames, Iowa to take on the Iowa State Cyclones (9-24, 3-12) in a midweek game on Wednesday. They will then travel to Evanston, Ill. next weekend for a four-game series with the Northwestern Wildcats (15-14, 2-6).
