KWAPINSKI NAMED TO VERIZON ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT V FOOTBALL TEAM

Di Sophomore Dan Kwapinski was named a member of the 2001 Verizon District V Academic All-America football team today. A native of Fort Ransom, N.D., Kwapinski is majoring in biology and has a cumulative grade point average of 3.55. The 6-5, 278-pound defensive tackle has started all nine games for the Golden Gophers this season, and helped anchor a young front-four that shut down the Michigan State running attack in Minnesota's 26-19 victory over the Spartans. A two-time scholar athlete award winner, Kwapinski will represent the district on the national ballot for Verizon Academic All-America honors.
