Jakobsson Earns All-America at NCAA Track & Field Championships

ChampioBaton Rouge, La. - Minnesota's Mikael Jakobsson became a four-time All- American by placing fifth in the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Baton Rouge, La. Jakobsson's effort was the highest individual finish by a Golden Gopher since high jumper Staffan Strand earned second place in 1999.
Jakobsson, a sophomore from Orebro, Sweden, ran a 50.15, after setting the school record clocking a 49.75 in the preliminaries. Jakobsson earned his first three All-America honors a member of Minnesota's 4x400-relay team.
