Men's Golf in 10th Place at National Invitational Tournament

frThe University of Minnesota men's golf team is in 10th place with a team score of 14-over-par 302 after the first day of the National Invitational Tournament. The Golden Gophers are 13 strokes back from leader Texas at 289. The Invitational is being held at the par 72, 7,138-yard Tucson National Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz.

Individually, Matt Anderson (Edina, Minn./Edina) shot the lowest round for Minnesota with a 74 (+2) to sit tied at 18th. Three Gophers are tied at 34th place with scores of 4-over 76: senior Wilhelm Schauman (Djursholm, Sweden/Victor Rydberg), junior Ben Greve (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) and senior Simon Nash (Pullenvale, Australia/St. Joseph's). Junior Justin Smith carded a 77 (+5) to tie for 46th place.

The National Invitational Tournament will continue Mar. 31-Apr. 1.
