Minnesota Concludes Final Round at Puerto Rico Classic

RIO GRANDE, P.R. - The University of Minnesota men's golf team wrapped up the final round of the Puerto Rico Classic at the Grand Reserve Golf Club Wednesday.
The Golden Gophers finished in 12th place with a team score of 16-under-par, including a final round score of 1-over-par (289). Virginia placed first in the team competition with a score of 55-under-par. Individually, Frankie Harris of South Carolina recorded the best mark of 16-under-par (200) among all players.
Notable Performances:
Freshman Joe Honsa recorded the best team finish of 5-under-par (211) through three days, registering a new career-best, tournament score in the Maroon and Gold. He finished 1-over-par (73) on the day with three birdies, adding to his total of 11 through 54 holes of golf. Honsa tied for 33rd place among the field.
Sophomore Chun-Ta Wu penciled a score of 3-under-par (213), including a final round score of 1-over-par (73) Wednesday. He picked up three birdies in the third round, improving his total to 12 throughout the event. Wu finished in a tie for 42nd among all players.
Senior Jack Wetzel shot even (72), placing 48th with a final mark of 2-under-par (214). His four birdies on Wednesday added to his total of 12 for the tournament.
Sophomore Jack Crousore carded a score of 2-over-par (74) on the day, concluding with an overall score of 1-under-par (215). He finished with 11 birdies over the three days, including two during the final round.
Senior Cormac Sharpe picked up a final round score of 1-under-par (71), leading the team during the final day. He collected 10 birdies over 54 holes of golf to finish with an overall score of even par.

The Gophers return to action Mar. 1-2 when they travel to Bluffton, S.C., for the Colleton River Collegiate, hosted by Michigan State. The tournament will take place at the Colleton River Club.
