Wu Propels Gophers into Top Ten After Day Two in Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, P.R. - Sophomore Chun-Ta Wu's strong performance in the second round of the Puerto Rico Classic helped Minnesota move into 10th place Tuesday.
The Golden Gophers finished with a round two score of 15-under-par (273), placing second on the day with all five players collecting scores under par. The team has a total of 17-under-par through the first 36 holes.
Notable Performances:
Wu carded a team-best score of 6-under-par (66), finishing with a mark of 4-under-par through the first two days. His round score of 66 is his season low through 18 holes. He collected five birdies Tuesday, bringing his total to nine for the tournament. His eagle on the second hole was his third of the season, helping him tie for 37th place among all golfers.
Freshman Joe Honsa continues to lead the team through day two with a score of 6-under-par, tying him for 22nd among the field. His six birdies helped him finish 4-under-par (68) on the day, registering a new career-low round score in the Maroon and Gold.
Senior Cormac Sharpe penciled a score of 3-under-par (69), improving his total score to 1-over-par. He finished with five birdies, increasing his total to six through 36 holes of golf.
Sophomore Jack Crousore collected a team-high seven birdies on the day to finish with a mark of 2-under-par (70). His overall score of 3-under-par has him tied for 46th place.
Senior Jack Wetzel finished with a score of 1-under-par (71) for the second-straight day, picking up five birdies for a total of eight in the tournament. He is tied for 49th place in the field.
