MINNESOTA HEAD COACH GLEN MASON QUOTES
"We were so close and yet so far away. Your natural tendency is to look at the final play, the missed field goal, and that's wrong. We were in position to kick a 50-plus-yard field goal and Rhys Lloyd did not come through. But I've never been around a guy that cherishes those opportunities as much as he does. A lot of guys don't because of what happens if they don't come through. He's a guy that craves such a situation and can deal with lack of success and can then be ready to do it again."

On Minnesota's third down prior to the field goal:
"I've got to be honest with you, I didn't want to risk being knocked out of field goal range. That's why we ran the ball. We got stuffed on a zone play, the play before that. So I felt that a run was better to get into field goal range. I asked Rhys were we had to get to and he told me that he could hit it from there."

On a possible bowl appearance:
"Our season did not go as we would have liked, but it has not dampened my spirit about this club. I hope we have a opportunity to play in a post-season bowl game. If we get what we deserve, whatever bowl is fine."

On Minnesota's rushing record:
"It's an accomplishment for those two guys and our entire line. It's something that has never been done and now set by two of the greatest kids to be around. They have just gotten better and better. What you see is what you get."

MINNESOTA PLAYER QUOTES
Kicker Rhys Lloyd
"I missed it. I didn't kick it well. There were no doubts in my mind before the kick. I just missed it. I can't do anything about it now. Everything was good. I just missed."

"He (Mason) had confidence in me and I had confidence in myself as well as the team. It's just one of those things that happens. I can't dwell on it."

"I let the team down. I hold the whole loss on me. I think that's what most guys would do. That's just the way I am. Of course I'm disappointed but it's not the end of the world. I can still go home tonight and spend time with my family and move on."

Running back Laurence Maroney
"(The offensive line) blocked awesome. My line came out and gave it their all and the running backs gave it their all as well. That's what happens when we come out to play and bring our A game."

"It's real tough to lose like this with such high expectations from the beginning of the season. From here, you just have to move on. There's nothing to do about it now. I'm not going to stand here and point fingers. As a team, we just lost.

"We deserve what we get. I don't know where we are going. If we do go to a bowl game, we are going to treat it like any other game.

"It's important but its not. You have to put your team goals ahead of your personal ones. You know it's a good side to this game and we can say we gave it our best. We just didn't finish it."

"Nothing. It happened. You miss, you miss. We aren't going to look at Rhys any differently."

Running back Marion Barber III
"We were still very confident. We took a few bumps and bruises but it's nothing we couldn't overcome. It's been a total team effort all year and they guys up front helped us achieve (the 1,000-yard seasons).

"We'll get a bowl game. I think so. I don't know what will happen over the next few weeks but I don't mind at all where we play. We just have to get our minds right for the next game."

"I don't think of it (1,000-yard seasons) as important. We didn't win the game. I look at it as playing hard and getting it done. If we would have won the game, I probably would have felt better about it."

Offensive tackle Rian Melander
"I think we just got back to the nitty-gritty fundamentals. We just worked a lot harder."

"Our team is really resilient. We battled back and played hard. No one wants to lose the trophy at home."

" We have great confidence in Rhys Lloyd. He has made kicks like that before. We have full confidence in Rhys."

"It means a lot to us that our backs ran really well. It also means that our line was blocking well and that makes us feel good."

Linebacker Kyle McKenzie
"Our offense still gave us a chance. They gave us a chance. We as a defense just have to get off the field."

"We have to make plays on defense. I'm more disappointed in myself than anything and I don't put the blame on anyone."

IOWA HEAD COACH KIRK FERENTZ QUOTES

"I told the guys after the game that we're not a statistical team. Points, turnovers and penalties are the big things that we are focusing on right now, and obviously wins and losses. It's just one of those years that we just have to find a way to get the job done. This was another example of guys stepping up today."

"Credit Minnesota, I thought they played especially hard. In the second half the game could have gone either way, but they outplayed us in the second half and we were fortunate to come away with a win. "

"I don't know the statistics, but they (Minnesota) had success running the football. But somehow, some way we are sitting here with three wins and they can't take them back and we're taking Floyd home with us. We are the first team to beat them at home, and they are very tough at home. I'm proud of that."

On Iowa's third down conversions:
"I think it's a combination of our protection being solid for the most part, and (Drew) Tate continues to quarterback well and their receivers have really stepped up."

IOWA PLAYER QUOTES
Quarterback Drew Tate
"We did a lot of good things on offense. We converted on third down, which helped us keep drives alive. I think we play well as a unit. With two new linemen in there and Sam (Brownlee) coming out, we were trying to help our defense out and keep them off the field."

On the third down success:
"Coach (O'Keefe) did a good job calling the plays and the line did a good job of giving me time and the receivers did a good job getting open.

On the Iowa defense:
"Our defense played great. We know that they have been carrying us all year. We knew that with their (Minnesota) running backs and playing up here, that it would be a tough game. We knew that we would needed to help them out as much as we could and come up with as many points as we could."

Wide Receiver Clinton Solomon
On the third down success:
"We've got to make big plays when the time comes, whether it's in the passing game or the running game. When it's the running game we have to come up with big blocks and when it's the passing game, we have to make sure to catch it."

Free Safety Sean Considine
On the turnovers:
"We had three today in a game that ends 29-27. Obviously every turnover you can get is a big time factor. I don't know if we did a good job or they just had an unlucky day. Either way, we'll take it regardless."
