Gopher Men's Swimming Season Ends with Solid Performance

The Golden Gopher men's swim team finish their season this afternoon at the University Aquatic Center. Today's GO-PHER IT INVITATIONAL is the last opportunity for them to qualify for the national championships, held later this month in Long Island, New York.

The preliminary session began with the 50 freestyle. Freshman Daniel Berve captured a time of 21.02.

In the 200 backstroke, senior Diego Urreta clocked a B-cut time of 1:46.15.

In the final event, the 100 breaststroke, Terry Silkaitis earned a time of 56.89. Teammate Adam Mitchell followed close behind with a time of 57.37.

Urreta, the only Gopher to participate in the finals session, swam the 200 backstroke in a time of 1:47.43.

Up next for the Gophers are the Diving Zones, hosted by Indiana University, March 12-14. The NCAA Championships are March 25-27.
