The Minnesota men's golf team announced Andy Paulson will be joining the Golden Gopher program in the fall of 2004.

Paulson, a native of White Bear Lake, Minn., is currently ranked second in the metro area and recorded a second place finish at the 2004 Tri-State Invitational. He was named all-state and all-conference as a junior in 2003 and won the Suburban East Conference championship. He was the medalist at the Detroit Lakes Invitational and was runner-up at the Elk River, Coon Rapids and Blaine Invitationals.

Last summer, Paulson was the medalist at the Sawmill Westfield National Junior Tournament Qualifier and he tied for ninth at the Minnesota State Junior Championship. In addition, Paulson is a two-year member of the Brad James Excellence Program conducted at the U of M.

"I have enjoyed watching Andy develop into a fine player at the high school level," head coach Brad James said. "He has a lot of ability and the tools necessary to be successful at the collegiate level. I look forward to having him as a member of our program."
