Gopher Contingent Continues at U.S. Olympic Trials

Terry Silkaitis, Brian Gettelfinger and former swimmer Chad Krastins all competed in the sixth day of trails, lasting until July 14.

Silkaitis finished 25th in the 50 freestyle event. Silkaitis, a 16- time NCAA All-American, finished with a time of 23.42. There were 43 participants in the event. It was the last event for Silkaitis at the trials, already competing in the 100 and 200 free events earlier in the week.

Krastins and Gettelfinger each competed in the 100 butterfly event. Krastins finished 26th overall with a time of 55.24, while Gettelfinger added a 32nd finish in 55.45. Krastins entered the event with a 36-place seeding, while Gettelfinger was ranked 53rd.

Minnesota will be represented one final time, this time in the 1500 free. Justin Mortimer will look to qualify for the finals in the event. Mortimer finished fourth in the 400 free and ninth in the 200 free.
