MGF: Gophers in 13th After Round One of National Invitational

lThe University of Minnesota men's golf team fired a 1-over 289 in the first round of the National Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Ariz. The Gophers are in 13th place, 13 shots behind tournament leader TCU. The National Invitational features one of the top fields of the year in collegiate golf.

Individually, the Gophers were led by sophomore Bronson La'Cassie. La'Cassie fired a 2-under 70 and is tied for 17th. Senior Ben Greve and junior Ryan Paulson each carded an even par 72 and are tied for 34th. Sophomore Niall Turner had a 75 and is tied for 61st and freshman Jurrian Van Der Vaart is tied for 67th after a 76.

The second round is tomorrow at the par 72, 7,094-yard OMNI Tucson National course.
