MGF: Wilhelm Schauman Qualfies for The Open Championship

SchaumaFormer Minnesota men's golfer Wilhelm Schauman qualified for The Open Championship by earning one of the final two spots in a seven-player playoff at Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit, N.J. Schauman shot rounds of 71- 67=138 to qualify for the playoff. Schauman made a six-foot putt on the second playoff hole to qualify along with Richard Barcelo of the United States.

Schauman edged David Morland of Canada, Corey Pavin of the United States, Robert Hamilton (USA), Richard Johnson (Sweden) and Dennis Paulson (USA) in the playoff.

So far this season, Schauman is 99th on the Hooters Tour money list and has earned $5,042.88. He has played the majority of the season in Europe. The Open Championship will be played July 14-17 at the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland.
