Hegener To Be Inducted into Minnesota Aquatics Hall of Fame

Hegener is a well-known name in the Minnesota women’s swimming program. In her career, Hegener had a record-breaking 14 All-American honors, including a school record seven first-team All-American citations. In her senior season, Hegener became the American record-holder in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in a time of 1:00.32 at the 1997 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Hegener is the only Golden Gopher woman to capture a NCAA Championship. A three-time first-team All-Big Ten selection, Hegener won the 1996 and 1997 conference titles in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events. Named the Co-Big Ten Swimmer of the Year in 1997, Hegener still holds the Big Ten record in the 200 breast and still holds the school record in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events.
