Potulny led all players with five points (3-2--5) in two games and was named the Dodge Holiday Classic MVP. In the 8-0 win over Union in the semifinals, Potulny notched his fifth three-point game of the season with one goal and two assists. Potulny's goal at 1:14 of the first period turned out to be his first game-winner of the season. In the 5-4 comeback win in the title game vs. UMass-Lowell, Potulny scored twice for his team-leading eighth multi-point game and fourth multi-goal contest of the season. He scored Minnesota’s second goal at 17:04 of the second period and gave UM its first lead of the game at 4-3 at 6:31 of the third. The Grand Forks, N.D., fired a team season-high 10 shots on net in the championship game. For the tournament, Potulny was a +1 with 13 shots.
He is now on a four-game point streak (6-3--9) and has at least one point in 15 of 20 games this season and a goal in 14 contests. Potulny leads the team in goals (18) and points (29).
This week’s award is the second for Potulny this season and for his career.
