MINNEAPOLIS - Two members of the University of Minnesota men's hockey team were named 2026 Krampade/AHCA All-American Scholars on Monday as Jacob Rombach and Finn McLaughlin were honored for their efforts in the classroom during the 2025-26 campaign.
Rombach appeared in all 36 games during his freshman campaign, becoming one of eight Gophers to skate in every contest during the year. The rookie defenseman recorded four points on the year, including his first collegiate goal in Minnesota's season finale at No. 10 Penn State in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals. He added three assists, highlighted by helpers in road games at No. 4 Denver and Ohio State. The Blaine, Minn., native made his presence felt defensively, finishing with an even rating and 40 blocked shots, while earning his first varsity letter. He also earned a spot on the Dean's List for his classwork in the spring semester.
McLaughlin skated in 31 games in his first season of college hockey, making an immediate impact on the blue line in 2025-26. He made his debut in the season opener against Michigan Tech and recorded the first point of his NCAA career with an assist on opening night. The Canmore, Alberta, product finished the year with 17 blocked shots, including a season-high two blocks on four separate occasions. He capped off a strong rookie campaign by earning a varsity letter for the Maroon and Gold. He also carried a perfect 4.0 GPA for both semesters and landed on the Dean's List thanks to his academic work during the spring semester.
