Katie Ohm was the only Gopher in double figures with 12 points. Ashley Ellis-Milan matched a career-high with 13 rebounds. Overall, Minnesota struggled in nearly every aspect of the game, shooting just 30.4 percent from the field and a dismal 50 percent (17-34) from the free throw line. The Gophers, who have been powered by their effort on the boards in past games was outrebounded by a 43-32 margin, a stat resulted in a catastrophic 17-3 disadvantage in second-chance points.

Ohm provided a spark off the bench, hitting three straight field goals for eight points to bring the Gophers within a point at 11-10 but the Bison answered with a 7-0 run. Ohm also was unable to get a shot off for the rest of the half.

North Dakota State took advantage of the Gophers’ foul trouble visiting the charity stripe 20 times in the first half alone, making 13.
North Dakota built a 39-27 lead on a Lisa Bue lay-up with 16:43 remaining. Minnesota made a 10-0 run to get within two points. Bison center Danni Heintzelman hit two free throws before Ohm hit her third three-pointer of the game to make it 41-40 with 11:10 left. The Bison turned the ball over on their next possession, but Ohm misfired on another triple in one of the Gophers’ few chances to take the lead.
