Three Minnesota athletes will compete at the Cal Multi-Event Meet, in Berkeley, Calif, on Wednesday and Thursday, March 29-30. Liz Roehrig, who earned All-America honors in the pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships earlier this month, will be joined by Golden Gopher teammates Jacenta Spandl and Maggie Jaunich in the heptathlon competition.

The Cal Multi-Event Meet is traditionally one of the best in the country. The women's field had 37 athletes in 2005. This year it is expected to house 20 for the heptathlon and 10 men for the decathlon. Last year's decathlon champion was Phil McMullen - who also competed for Team USA at the World Championships in Helsinki, Finland last summer - and last year's heptathlon champion was Ashley Seilg of Nebraska - Selig was also the 2005 NCAA Indoor champion in the pentathlon. Athletes from Cal, SMU, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, Wichita State and Chico State will compete. The meet was started to honor the California's great tradition in the multi-events.
