Did you know....
That the average temperature in December, January and February is 23? F. It is a national myth that Minnesota winters are always sub zero. Much of our negative reputation comes from International Falls (six hour drive north) and the Die Hard Battery commercials. Minnesota weather is very similar to Wisconsin, Michigan, New York, Iowa and the other northern states.

That 70% of the "U" graduates settle in the Twin Cities. Tells you something about our quality of life!!

That as a young woman, the chances of meeting your future "significant other" where you attend school is over 60%. And if you have children, what better place to educate them than in a state where the drop out rate is only 4% (the national average is 25%).

That much of the nation's economic hub is in the Twin Cities - IBM, Control Data, Northwest, Honeywell, Pillsbury, Dayton-Hudson, General Mills, and 3M are headquartered here. Sixteen Fortune 500 companies are located in the Twin Cities.

That our women's athletics graduation rate over the past 4 years is 85%. The national average is 59%.

That the Twin Cities rank second only to New York City for quality of culture.

That you can literally "shop until you drop" in our thousands of stores and shops. Especially the Mall Of America.

That the unemployment rate is a low 5%.

T hat the crime rate is one of the lowest of any metropolitan area in the nation. Minneapolis and St. Paul are not really considered cities. The natives call them "big small towns."

T hat you can walk across campus in 15 minutes.

That there are only 24,000 undergraduate students.</ font>

That 7,000 students live on campus and 7,000 rent apartments close to school. Thus the campus has a "feel" of a school of about 15-20,000 students.

That Minnesota has reciprocity with Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota and Manitoba (Canada), and partial reciprocity with Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas and Michigan.

That our athletes are allowed to miss only&nbsp;nine days of classes due to travel to meets. Academics come first.

That 80% of the classes at the "U" have 40 or fewer students.

T hat our cross country team has been ranked in the Top 25 in the nation 15 of the past 18 years and has made the NCAA meet the past five years in a row.

That our Track and Field team placed second at the Big Ten Outdoor Meet in 2002.
