Golden Gophers Qualify For NCAA Men's Golf Championships

Minnesota was led by the continued strong play of sophomore Clayton Rask. Rask recorded his second straight top 10 finsh and the second of his collegiate career with a final score of 215 (+2) to tie for 10th. Junior All-American Bronson La'Cassie led the Gophers for the second straight day with an even par round of 71. He finished tied for 24th at 6-over 219. Junior Niall Turner carded a 73 Saturday and tied for 30th at 220. Senior Josh Persons carded a final round 74 and finished tied for 48th at 10-over 223. Freshman Victor Almstrom shot a 75 and tied for 63rd at 13-over 226.
Minnesota advances to its 26th NCAA Finals appearance and its seventh appearance since 1998, the most of any northern school. The Gophers won the national title in 2002. The NCAA Championships will be held in Sunriver, Ore., at the Crosswater Golf Club at Sunriver Resort on May 31 to June 4.
