Justin Smith Ties For 17th at Scholarship America Showdown

Former University of Minnesota golfer Justin Smith finished in a tie for 17th at the Scholarship America Showdown in Byron, Minn. Smith fired a tournament total of 9-under-par 279 and earned $7,194.17 for the finish. Smith has earned more than $60,000 this year on the Hooters and Nationwide Tours. In addition to Smith, Matt Anderson tied for 49th at 3-under 287 and David Morgan tied for 61st at 2-over 290. Anderson earned $1897.50 and Morgan took home a check worth $1595.00.

Smith carded a final round 71 birdieing two of the final three holes to keep him in the top 20. It was Smith's first top-20 finish on the Nationwide Tour. He has already earned more than $50,000 on the Hooters Tour this season. Smith pared the first six holes Sunday before a birdie on the par-4 seventh hole. Bogeys on eight and 11 put Smith at 1-over for his round before the birdies at the end of the round. Anderson carded a 77 and Morgan a 75 in the final round.
