The Minnesota Women’s Basketball Gold Rush completed its two-day trek on Tuesday, arriving at Williams Arena at 3 p.m. The tour traveled throughout parts of outstate Minnesota, making stops along the way to meet and greet Golden Gopher fans and sharing the excitement for the upcoming 2006-07 basketball season.
The caravan’s first stop was an Alexandria landmark, Big Ole, before joining a group of Golden Gopher fans for a luncheon. The caravan then traveled to Pelican Rapids for a quick photo shoot with the famed world’s biggest pelican and continued on to Fosston. Monday’s event in Fosston, the hometown of Gopher senior and team captain Kelly Roysland, drew a capacity crowd of over 200 people.
The Gold Rush traveled to Bemidji on Tuesday morning for a media stop at a local radio station, then a photo shoot at the Minnesota landmark Paul Bunyan with Babe the Blue Ox. Another radio interview in St. Cloud followed, before the Gold Tour headed back to the Twin Cities.
