Evan Kaufmann Wins Men's Hockey Annual IronMan Competition

The University of Minnesota men’s hockey team recently held its annual IronMan competition with junior center Evan Kaufmann (Plymouth, Minn.) capturing first place in the Golden Gophers’ preseason test of strength, speed, agility and endurance.
Kaufmann led the team with 181 overall points, followed by freshman defenseman Brian Schack (171 points), sophomore forward Blake Wheeler (162), junior defenseman Derek Peltier (160) and freshman forward Jay Barriball (154). Kaufmann follows former Golden Gophers Gino Guyer (2005), Andy Sertich (2003, 2004) and Paul Martin (2001, 2002) as IronMan Champions.
The Golden Gopher IronMan competition includes events such as bench press, pull-ups, 300-meter dash, shuttle run and 10/20-yard dash.
