Senior captain played 152 games for 'U'
MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota men's hockey captain Brody Lamb signed his first professional contract Thursday, a two-year, entry-level deal with the National Hockey League's New York Rangers.
Originally selected by the Rangers in the fourth round (104th overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Lamb skated in 152 career games for the Maroon and Gold across his four-year career. The Byron, Minn., native totaled 91 points on 47 goals and 44 assists as a Gopher and posted double-digit goals with at least 25 points in each of the last three seasons. He tallied 17 power-play goals and put away eight game winners in his tenure, while he was a three-time Big Ten Conference Star of the Week honoree and a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
This season, he tied for second on the team behind a career-best 30 points with 14 goals and 16 helpers. Lamb had a career-long nine-game point streak down the stretch between Jan. 17 and Feb. 14, the 10th-longest streak in the NCAA this season, and had five goals and six helpers during that stretch. He matched a career-best three points in a single game three separate times this year, including back-to-back road wins over No. 4 Denver (Nov. 29) and Ohio State (Dec. 4) along with another road upset over No. 8 North Dakota (Oct. 18).
