Novice Rowers Compete in First Rumpus Cup against Wisconsin

The Gophers fell to Wisconsin in their first Rumpus Cup, today, in Madison, Wis. The Rumpus Cup is awarded to the squad with the smallest margin between their A and B lineups. The Hammer of the Northland was also awarded to the school with the fastest boat. In overall action, Minnesota's A boat finished third in a time of 21:26.1, while Wisconsin's B and A boats finished first and second in 20:14.0 and 20:26.3. In the Gopher A boat consisted of coxswain Linnea Trandem, Katie Ladell at stroke, Shannon Gates, Alex Gregory, Alyssa Kast, Ann Haberman, Dani Prestegard, Carrie Gahr and Kristi Sroka. The Minnesota B boat of coxswain Dana Landseidel, Michaela Murphy, Kristin Haag, Liz Gruse, Jessica Mayers, Tracy Merth, Melinda Brown, Vanessa Hamer and Paschke finished fifth overall with a time of 23:11.5. The Gopher C followed with a sixth-place finish. Competing in the C boat was Rebecca Emmons as the coxswain, Sara Swenson at stroke, Lauren Rynders, Sam Preston, Barb Klun, Chonquita Jones at the 4 seat, Randi Schroeder, Cassie Eveans and Nikki Regan.
