Mike Carman Named WCHA Rookie of the Week

University of Minnesota freshman center Mike Carman (Apple Valley, Minn.) has been named the WCHA Rookie of the Week, following Minnesota’s sweep last weekend at Colorado College. Carman played the hero in Minnesota’s 3-2 win at CC last Saturday, scoring twice.
A native of Apple Valley, Minn., Carman scored two even-strength goals to lead the Golden Gophers to the sweep. Carman opened the game’s scoring at 14:49 of the second period with his fifth goal of the season. Later, he scored the game-winner, just 22 seconds after Colorado College had knotted the game at 2-2. The game-winner was Carman’s second of the season while his goals were his first since Nov. 25. For the game and the weekend, he had three shots and was +2. With his two-point weekend, Carman owns totals of 6-7--13 in 30 games.
The award is the first Rookie of the Week accolade for Carman.
