Gopher Women's Basketball Players Visit Elementary School

Remember those last few days of school before summer vacation? All you wanted to do was run outside into the sunshine and leave the books and studies behind. A trio of Golden Gopher women’s basketball players stopped by Sand Creek Elementary School in Coon Rapids on Friday to help the school kick off its Walk-a-Thon for new playground equipment, as well as provide a little excitement before the summer officially begins.
Organized by Cheri (Stafford) Sell, a former Golden Gopher player herself and now a teacher at the school, the event offered each class the opportunity to meet Minnesota natives Jordan Barnes, Leslie Knight and Ashley Ellis-Milan; hear some words of wisdom from these student-athletes and then have some basketball fun. The children were also treated to trips to a local park and a chance to soak the school principal in a dunk tank.
