Welcome to the Golden Gophers’ Summer 2007 Fun in the Sun series. A new Gopher player or coach will be featured every day for the next couple of weeks. We hope you enjoy a glimpse of how your favorite Golden Gophers are spending the summer.

Hi Gopher fans,
This is a picture of Krista Chin (Volleyball), Kadian Douglas (Track & Field), Alexis Russell (Gymnastics), and myself at the Goldy’s Round Up on the Cedar Ridge Arabian Farms in Jordan, Minnesota. The event was put on by Dick and Lollie Ames and consisted of an Arabian horse show, a re-enactment of a shoot-out, a raffle and cook-out, and a meet-and-greet with the coaching staff at the U.
I enjoyed this event because I always love volunteering and meeting new people in the process. Meeting with the people that contribute to athletic scholarships at the U was something that I think every athlete should do at least once during their time here and I am thankful I got a chance to do that. I had fun spending time with athletes from the other teams and meeting new ones as well. Going to the Round Up was something different so I’m happy I went. Of course seeing Michele Tafoya, the ESPN’s Monday Football analyst up close and in person was also a cool experience.
