University of Minnesota Announces 2007 Men's Gymnastics Schedule

The University of Minnesota men’s gymnastic team has released its schedule for the 2007-08 season. The schedule consists of a preseason meet followed by a range of Big Ten and non-conference matchups ending with Iowa on March 21.
The Gophers, who placed sixth overall in the 2007 NCAA Tournament, will play host to the University of Calgary (Jan. 26), UIC (Feb. 16), Nebraska (March 1) and Iowa (March 21).
Highlighting the 2007-08 schedule is a Feb. 2 matchup against 2007 NCAA Champion Penn State and the March 15 meet against 2007 NCAA Runner-Up Oklahoma.
The roster for the 2007-2008 season looks impressive with four seniors; Matt Altomari, Sergei Dmitriev, Steven Vuong, and Mitchell Mays. Mays was honored with the Most Improved Gymnast Award and Dmitriev was honored with the Most Inspirational Award following the NCAA Championships. Along with the seniors, are sophomores Adre Berry and Cole Storer, who were both awarded the Outstanding Freshman Award last season.
Minnesota will be on the road for four matches this season. The Gophers head to the Windy City Invite, Illinois, Penn State, the Winter Cup in Las Vegas and Oklahoma.
Postseason play will begin with the Big Ten Championships April 4-5 at State College, Pa. followed by the NCAA Championships April 17-19 at Stanford, Calif. The 2008 USA Championships will be held May 22-24 in Houston, Texas.
All home meets are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., with the exception of the 2 p.m., intrasquad meet on Dec. 2.
