Almstrom Ties For Second At PING Preview, Gophers Fifth

The University of Minnesota men's golf team finished fifth at the PING Preview in West Lafayette, Ind. The Golden Gophers carded a final round 296 to finish at 18-over 882, 15 shots behind tournament titleist Charlotte. Junior All-American Victor Almstrom fired a final round 69 tying for second at 5-under 211. Almstrom matched 36-hole leader Jonas Enander Hedin at 5-under, two shots behind Stefan Wiedergruen of Charlotte.

The second-place finish was a career high for the junior from Vallingby, Sweden and his 54-hole score of 211 was also a career best. Senior Clayton Rask tied for 16th at 4-over 220 after his second straight even par round on Sunday. Junior Andy Paulson and sophomore Ben Pisani tied for 41st at 10-over 226. Freshman justin Kaplan was 73rd at 26-over 242.
