Burns Blog No. 5 From the World Championships

9/8/2007 12:00:00 AM | Men's Gymnastics

In the last of the Burns Blogs from Stuttgart, Germany, Guillermo Alvarez just missed making the awards stand by finishing in 4th place on floor exercise with a score of 15.60. First place went to Diego Hypolito of Brazil with a score of 16.15. Second place went to Gervasio Deferr from Spain with a score of 15.90, and third went to Hisashi Mizotori of Japan with a score of 15.65.

Guillermo performed brilliantly in the finals and Minnesota can now claim to have the 4th best floor exercise gymnast in the world! Congratulations to Guillermo for a great day on floor and a great meet at the World Championships.

Other Team USA finalists today included Sasha Artemev who finished 6th on pommel horse and Kevin Tan who finished 4th on the still rings.

We will be flying back to Minnesota on Monday. We leave Stuttgart on a 6 am bus and drive to Frankfurt where we will pick up a 12:20 pm flight to Washington, DC. We then take a flight to Chicago and then a flight to Minneapolis, arriving sometime around 9:45 pm. It will be a long day of traveling but it will be worth it to get back to good old Minnesota!!
